Italy trip - Cinque Terre
Hello, everybody,
Today we talk about amazing Cinque Terre :) - also a one day trip, having the starting point in Genova where we stayed.
The train ride from Genova to La Spezia Centrale was around 1 hour and a half and again I recommend to leave very early in the morning.
From La Spezia Centrale you have to buy a Cinque Terre pass (around 35 Euros / person) and this pass allows you to go around the 5 villages (Riomaggiore - Manarola - Corniglia - Vernazza - Monterosso) all day long by train. And the train comes and goes twice per hour.
The only place we did not visit was Corniglia - it was very hot and climbing up (382 steps) to get there was out of the question.
I heard that there is also a bus (to quote wikipedia " sometime a small bus runs") - but maybe next time :)
Again I do not recommend to stay in Cinque Terre - very pricey and there are not a lot of things you can do, except walking around with hundreds of other tourists :) and get some tan on very small, rocky beaches.
I suggest to do this type of one day trip because it is great.
And the views are very colourful and catchy.
Manarola
And since we wake up early, we had to eat something :)
We found a small place (La Cantina dello ZioBramante) where they had pizza slices / sandwhiches and we took a home made speciality: farinata al pesto. It was a little bit oily, but very tasty.
Riomaggiore
In Riomaggiore we ate the best seafood mix ever.
You have to try it - there are a lot of places from where you can take it to go and it is the freshest ever.
Monterosso
Where to eat:
And then we ate again :)
This time in Monterosso at a local Pizzeria place called La Smorfia.
Totally recommend it - they have around 50 types of pizzas.
And in case you don't know what rocket is (it appears on a lot of pizzas) - well it is rucola :) and it is good.
